Question

Hello,

I need help. I have one of the early camcorders that records directly to VHS. It does not have any bulit-in transitions(apart from fade, of course, but I want more), so I was wondering: Would cutting up a peice of construction paper and sliding it over the lens make a screen transition?

PS- My camera format is an HQ CG-9806, if that helps any.

PPS(I guess): Does anyone have the same camera format as mentioned above?

I have two suggestions.

1) Perhaps you could put a window shade/blinds on a frame and keep it directly in front of the camera (outside the frame). When you need the transition, you could pull the cord to drop the shade in front of the lense. It would be almost like a curtain drop between play acts. Raise the curtain for the next scene.

2) Another idea is that you could use a flashlight pointed into the lense (make sure it isn't too bright or you could damage the light sensor). If you were to shine a little pocket flashlight into the lense, it should white out the image. Turn the flashlight off to show the new scene.

Hope this helps.

Cool

Would cutting up a peice of construction paper and sliding it over the lens make a screen transition?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Why not try it and see if you like it? You can always record over the tape if you don't, and how much can construction paper cost?

Ah. Thanks, guys! Especially you, Dan Rahmel. I'd never thought of that.

PS- I tried the paper idea. Worked, but not so well. Anyway, thanks to you all for not suggesting that I buy stuff. For way over my $10 US budget. :-)
